Thank you for listening to The Radiant Mission podcast! We are on a mission to encourage and inspire you on your walk with Christ and as you journey through life.

In Episode 10, we have a little chi-chat, dial in on cervical dilation, and dive into Rachel’s birth stories. She explains her experience navigating breech birth which resulted in a scheduled c-section. We share birth tips along the way and discuss bicornuate uterus and uterus didelphys.

NOTE: possible trigger warning as we will discuss c-sections, birth trauma, and medical procedures.

In This Episode on Navigating Breech Birth: Scheduled C-Section, Bicornuate Uterus and Uterus Didelphys:

  • Rachel’s back!
    • Chit-chat about moving & real estate
    • Birth Follow-Up
      • Discussion: are cervical checks necessary?
      • Things that are optional during pregnancy and birth:
        • Cervical checks
        • Wearing “the gown” at the hospital
      • If you ever want to say no to something during your birthing time, advocate for yourself Request an AMA (Against Medical Advice) if you do not agree with something.
    • Rachel’s Birth Stories
      • What she learned during her birth experiences
      • The Biblical Birth School
      • Word of advice: work with a doula, talk to women, doulas, and others in birth communities in your area. They can help you to learn what’s going on in your area. Does your birth center or hospital have birthing pools? Do they allow you to labor or deliver baby in a tub? Facebook groups can be helpful.
      • Recommendation: take a birth class while pregnant, in person if possible.
      • Rachel discovered that her baby was breech so tried spinning babies. Unfortunately, baby did not turn.
      • Chiropractic care during your pregnancy is extremely helpful! Choose a practice that specializes in adjusting pregnant women, like 100% Chiropractic or another local chiropractor.
      • Other tips to help with baby’s positioning:
        • Lean forward, don’t lean back and lounge on your back
        • Sleep on your left side
        • Don’t cross your legs
      • Rachel had an External Cephalic Version (ECV). Unfortunately, baby still did not turn from breech position. She was then scheduled for a c-section.
    • Scheduled C-Section
      • Rachel was scheduled, but was told to check her blood pressure at home. This led to some high readings which sent her in early for a c-section.
      • Rachel is told she has two uteruses. The doctor said it was uterus didelphys and would determine more later and this was the reason her baby was breech (he did not have the space to turn around).
      • Struggled with breastfeeding and postpartum depression.

Bible Verses Mentioned:

Proverbs 3:5-8:

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and turn away from evil. It will be healing to your body and refreshment to your bones.
