When God Speaks in the McDonald’s Drive-Thru | TRM Pod Ep 152

Postpartum is a season full of both joy and challenges. While the early weeks after birth are often marked by bonding and wonder, many mothers find that the following months become an unexpected spiritual battleground. Postpartum depression, rage, and emotional struggles are more common than we talk about—and I’ve personally been walking through this reality.

Postpartum as a Spiritual Battleground

The Bible tells us the enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). Postpartum can be a prime season for attack because mothers are exhausted, stretched thin, and vulnerable. For me, the first two months postpartum felt manageable, but months three through five brought a wave of burnout, pressure, and exhaustion.

Balancing a high-pressure corporate role, raising four young children, planning every event, vacation, and birthday, and keeping this podcast running took its toll. Add to that a lack of sleep, a diet heavy in fast food, and constant spiritual warfare, and I quickly hit a breaking point.

Conviction in the McDonald’s Drive-Thru

One of the ways God got my attention was through food. More than once, I heard the Holy Spirit telling me not to get fast food—reminding me it wasn’t nourishing me and would make me sick. But I ignored that nudge. Each time, I regretted it.

Finally, I realized the Lord was gently calling me to stop ignoring His voice and start making changes. That moment in the McDonald’s drive-thru became a turning point.

Community and Honesty

Part of my healing started when I opened up to coworkers and friends. For too long, I had suffered in silence—sharing my struggles only with my husband. But community is vital. God never designed us to walk alone, especially in seasons of weakness.

When I finally shared what I was going through, I found encouragement and relief. It reminded me that vulnerability creates space for healing.

A Fresh Start

After a recent family vacation, I decided to reset. On the way home from the airport, I stopped at the grocery store and filled the cart with healthy food. I bought an anti-inflammatory recipe book, cut out processed foods, refined sugar, pork, and most red meat, and started walking several days a week.

With the support of my functional medicine doctor and chiropractor, I also added supplements to balance postpartum hormones. Already, I feel lighter, stronger, and more at peace.

Why I’m Sharing This

I share this because maybe you’re in the same place—burned out, overwhelmed, or in a postpartum season where the enemy is pressing in. You’re not alone. I’m right there too.

And while it’s hard to admit these struggles publicly, I know many of you listening need the reminder that even those who encourage others still battle their own spiritual warfare. For me, running a podcast that exposes the enemy only makes the attacks more intense.

But God is faithful. He reminds us in Matthew 11:28: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

A Call for Prayer

So today, I’m asking for prayer—for strength, for health, and for continued wisdom as I walk this path. And if you need encouragement, know that I am praying for you too.
