Thank you for listening to The Radiant Mission podcast! We are on a mission to encourage and inspire you on your walk with Christ and as you journey through life.

In Episode 49 we discuss the immune system, immune health, colds, flus, and more with special guest, Dr. Vaughn.

Dr. Vaughn is a traditional naturopath and iridologist, focused on helping people discover the root cause of their chronic illness. Dr. Vaughn looks at health and the human body from a design perspective, helping people to understand the links between God, creation, health, sickness, and disease.

In This Episode on Immune System Health: How to Treat a Fever, Stomach Bugs, and More:

Is there something we need to know about the varying illnesses out there? Why do some people get sick and others don’t?

The basic concept we need to understand is that it comes down to the basic health of a person. A healthier body won’t get sick as much or as easily. This is why it’s important to focus on keeping the body healthy!

A fever can often be a sign of good health as it’s the body trying to heal itself. The quicker you spike a fever when sick, the quicker your body will kill off the infection so you can get through it.

If you can find a medical book written between 1800 and 1900, you have gold. Anything after 1900 has been compromised (listen to our episode on Rockefeller for more on this). Louis Kuhne wrote a book called The New Science of Healing during this era.

What is a fever?

It’s always related to an infectious organism. What it comes down to is a fermentation process. The fermentation of the gut. We know we can eat fermented foods. And we have good bacteria. And we need prebiotics and probiotics and feed the good bacteria and have good gut flora.

It’s the pathogenic bacteria or “bad” bacteria, sometimes known as commensal bacteria. Commensal bacteria is supposed to be in the gut, but they can be out of control. Examples would be Candida, E-Coli, and other organisms. When the gut is unhealthy or out of balance and they start to grow out of control, and this fermentation process is taking place, the body will then spike a fever to knock that infection back before it takes over the body.

This is why people get sick in change of season. The changes in the weather will impact the growth of bacteria. Why are these bad fermentation processes happening in the gut. A lot of it has to do with diet.

So, let’s say your immune system is down. It’s winter. You go to a birthday party. You eat a bunch of sugar and feed all these bad bacteria. The body says “ah, problem, red alert!” It signals the immune system, spikes a fever, kill the infection. That’s how it’s supposed to happen. We don’t really understand it so we get scared of fevers so use aspirin and all these different things.

How to treat a fever:

  1. Move the bowels. The problem is in the gut. Do whatever you can do to move the bowels. Castor oil is an age-old remedy. This will force the bowels to move.
  2. Open up the skin pores with a steam bath or steam sauna in the shower, bathroom, or bath. Steam baths are another age-old remedy. When you open the pores via steam, you allow toxins to leave the body. Sweat out the fever! Many do this by loading up on blankets. But the best way to do this is for a child to sleep with the mother, ideally skin-to-skin.
  3. Put a cold pack on the stomach. This will slow the success of the fermentation process happening.

This hot-cold therapy will help break any fever.

Why shouldn’t we use fever reducers?

We have been given this medical theory misnomer that when there is a fever, it’s because what’s happening to the body is wrong. We need to correct this mindset. From a Godly perspective, His design is good. It’s what’s supposed to be happening. So how can we work with the body?

An aspirin is an anti-inflammatory so what it does is it immediately stops the process that’s trying to occur. So, you’re reducing the fever, but you’re not doing it in a way that assists the body through it. This, in turn, does not allow the heal the way it should and actually manifests disease in deeper within a person that shows up later.

What can we do to help with pain management during sickness?

A cold bath! It will completely shut down the inflammatory process.

When you have an injury, what do you do? Put cold on it. It immediately takes the inflammation away.

How can we treat stomach bugs or the stomach flu?

Activated charcoal and clays can be a good way to tackle these. Activated charcoal is spent carbons, they aren’t activated so they’re great for acute issues. Good for food poisoning or food poisoning in the gut.

Other binders, other carbons, are good for heavy metals, radioactive elements, mold, and parasites. Charcoal and clay fit the category of a binder but they aren’t good to take long term. Since they’re such strong binders, they can grab good nutrients too.

It’s short term for a crisis only.

Dr. Vaughn also recommends Castor Oil or would pray about when to do that.

What are some other great healing plants?

Elderberry! It stops the replication of viruses. It can help shorten the duration of sickness.

Virus vs. bacteria

We often call sickness a “virus” but it’s almost always caused by bacteria.

Terrain Theory vs. Germ Theory

It’s a little bit of both. We should be spending 95% of our time and energy on the terrain. Working to make the body healthy is most important. But we focus on the germ.

How can we build a strong immune system?

Focusing on gut health is key. Dr. Vaughn uses a Gut Zoomer to do this.

Eating fermented food and diet really matters. If you eat things that will cause gut issues, you can expect problems. Beer, alcohol, sugar, starches, breads, and yeast-based foods can cause these issues. Eating lots of fruits and vegetables will help clean this out.

Sunshine is the single most important element on this planet. God gave us the sun because we need it for survival on this planet.

Advanced Immune Support by Mother Earth Labs is also great. Also, Spirit of Health Power Immunity Mushrooms Tincture.
