Thank you for listening to The Radiant Mission podcast! We are on a mission to encourage and inspire you on your walk with Christ and as you journey through life.

In Episode 14, we talk to a very special guest, Evan Nichols, about her miraculous and hope filled testimony. After many years of infertility and prayer for a child, the Lord answered the Nichols prayer in the most incredible way. Evan’s story is one of hope for the barren woman, faith to the faithless, and a reminder that our God is the God of miracles.

In This Episode on I Didn’t Know I Was Pregnant Until I Went Into Labor: A Story of Hope with Evan Nichols:

  • Evan’s Story
    • She and her husband decided to start trying to have a baby. After a year she went to the doctor and was told she had PCOS and would not have a baby without medical assistance. He put her on Clomid and she felt like a dark cloud was over her.
    • In 2016, Evan and her husband got a phone call that her husband’s father had passed tragically in an accident. This occasion brought a few family members to Christ and shifted things for Evan and her husband.
    • She and her husband started going back to church in Tennessee. Meanwhile, Evan’s parents started going to a miraculous church in Florida. One day she visited her parents church and the pastor shared the Parable of the Persistent Friend with her. After a conversation with him about this, a seed of hope was planted.
    • Back in TN, they started to pray for God’s guidance. She stopped taking fertility medication and didn’t go back to the OBGYN. She put her trust and hope in the Lord for her family’s future.
    • Eventually they moved back to Florida and got involved in church with the children’s ministry and worship team. She felt called to serve and focus on her relationship with God. She prayed a lot through this and for God to show her the baby. She had a vision of a little girl. Shortly after Rachel had a vivid dream about Evan having a gender reveal party. After thinking about it for a few days, Rachel decided to reach out to Evan and share this dream. It was a confirmation of God’s Word and what He was telling Evan.
    • Ended up as a nanny raising babies and children. Nannying grew her heart and the Lord was working on her heart too. She was growing in the waiting.
    • You have to be patient in faith. Had to have faith and patience and wait on the Lord. We live in a “right now” society, and this can be hard. God wanted her to find contentment in Him first. He wanted her to grow in her patience and be content in just Him.
    • Evan’s story is for others. Her story is to bring hope to barren wombs, faith where faith is lacking, to rejuvenate hearts and souls that need to be reminded that we serve a miraculous God. Many times our struggles are for the benefit of others, too.
    • The Lord led them to a new home, Evan to a new job, and she began feeling unusually tired. She began to experience back pain and felt irritable. Woke up a few times during the night and her back continued to bother her and the pain moved to the front. They were going to make pies for Thanksgiving and suddenly she felt like she’d wet her pants.
    • After going to the Emergency Room, Evan discovered she was pregnant! They initially guessed she was somewhere between 16-20 weeks but after getting an ultrasound discovered that she was 32-33 weeks! She was born shortly after and was healthy!
    • God concealed Evan’s daughter the way He concealed Moses.
    • Trust in the Lord! Don’t put your trust in the world. He is so faithful and He changes us. Trust Him, Believe in Him, and He will be by your side.

Bible Verses Mentioned:

Psalm 37:4-6:

Delight yourself in the Lord,
    and he will give you the desires of your heart.

Commit your way to the Lord;
    trust in him, and he will act.
He will bring forth your righteousness as the light,
    and your justice as the noonday.

Jeremiah 29:11:

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare[a] and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.

Psalm 139:1-18:

You have searched me, Lord,

    and you know me.

2 You know when I sit and when I rise;

    you perceive my thoughts from afar.

3 You discern my going out and my lying down;

    you are familiar with all my ways.

4 Before a word is on my tongue

    you, Lord, know it completely.

5 You hem me in behind and before,

    and you lay your hand upon me.

6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,

    too lofty for me to attain.

7 Where can I go from your Spirit?

Where can I flee from your presence?

8 If I go up to the heavens, you are there;

    if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.

9 If I rise on the wings of the dawn,

    if I settle on the far side of the sea,

10 even there your hand will guide me,

    your right hand will hold me fast.

11 If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me

    and the light become night around me,”

12 even the darkness will not be dark to you;

    the night will shine like the day,

    for darkness is as light to you.

13 For you created my inmost being;

    you knit me together in my mother’s womb.

14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;

    your works are wonderful,

    I know that full well.

15 My frame was not hidden from you

    when I was made in the secret place,

    when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.

16 Your eyes saw my unformed body;

    all the days ordained for me were written in your book

    before one of them came to be.

17 How precious to me are your thoughts,[a] God!

    How vast is the sum of them!

18 Were I to count them,

    they would outnumber the grains of sand—

    when I awake, I am still with you.
