Healing Chronic Illness: God’s Design & Natural Medicine | TRM Pod Ep 164

Chronic illness has become one of the greatest epidemics of our time. Autoimmune disease, chronic fatigue, skin conditions, anxiety, and pain are everywhere. Yet the more “advanced” our medical system becomes, the sicker we seem to get.

So what’s missing?

In this episode of The Radiant Mission Podcast, Rebecca Twomey sits down with Dr. Vaughn, a traditional naturopath and iridologist, to discuss how healing chronic illness begins by returning to God’s design for the body.

From Rebellion to Redemption

Dr. Vaughn’s story begins far from God. For years he chased worldly success, but a life-changing encounter with the Holy Spirit redirected everything. He found his purpose in helping others heal through faith and natural living.

In 2010, he founded Spirit of Health in Grandview, Missouri, with a mission to “partner with God to bring healing and restoration to all creation.” His message is simple but powerful:

“Who am I to separate God from my work when He is the very reason I’m alive?”

Understanding Iridology: A Window into the Body

Iridology is the study of the iris—the colored part of the eye. Certified by Dr. Ellen Tart Jensen, who studied under her father-in-law Dr. Bernard Jensen (a pioneer in colon health), Dr. Vaughn explains that the iris reveals patterns about a person’s health.

Through iridology, practitioners can identify:

  • Genetic weaknesses
  • Inflammation and congestion
  • Toxic buildup
  • Systemic imbalances

The eye reflects the body’s internal condition because God designed us with intricate intelligence. “The eyes are the lamp of the body” (Matthew 6:22), and they testify to His handiwork.

Dr. Vaughn emphasizes that iridology is not mystical or New Age—it’s an observational tool rooted in the Creator’s design. Just as a tree’s leaves reveal the health of its roots, the eyes reveal the health of the body.

Root Causes of Chronic Illness

According to Dr. Vaughn, most chronic illnesses share a common thread: toxicity.
Our bodies are constantly bombarded by chemicals, heavy metals, radiation, and infections that suppress the immune system.

The most common culprits include:

  • Parasites and chronic infections
  • Heavy metals (mercury, aluminum, lead)
  • Toxins (pesticides, parabens, glyphosate, fluoride)
  • Mold and environmental exposure

Instead of asking why the body is sick, modern medicine focuses on symptom suppression. Yet the root cause is often simple—the body is overloaded.

“God made the body to heal,” Dr. Vaughn explains. “We just need to remove the interference.”

Healing Chronic Illness Through Detoxification and Restoration

Scripture teaches that cleansing is part of holiness. Just as the temple required purification, so does the body—the living temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19).

Dr. Vaughn’s approach focuses on:

  • Detoxification: clearing the colon, liver, kidneys, and lymphatic system
  • Nutrition: restoring minerals, hydration, and whole foods
  • Faith: aligning thoughts and emotions with God’s truth
  • Obedience: living in harmony with His creation

When we detox the body, renew the mind, and restore the spirit, we begin to experience the fullness of God’s healing power.

A Biblical Approach to Medicine

The Greek word for “doctor” means teacher. True doctors are meant to educate—not medicate.

Dr. Vaughn’s creed at Spirit of Health reflects this:

  • Jesus Christ is the source of all life and healing.
  • God heals through miracles and His laws of creation.
  • The body understands divine intelligence over synthetics.
  • Cleansing restores purity and wholeness.
  • Health and freedom are our birthright.

Healing chronic illness is not about rejecting medicine—it’s about re-centering on God’s wisdom.

Why So Many Remain Sick

The modern medical system treats symptoms while ignoring causes. Painkillers, steroids, and suppressants may offer temporary relief, but they silence the body’s communication system.

In truth, pain is not punishment—it’s information. It reveals where the temple needs cleansing, care, and attention. When we listen and partner with God, healing follows.
