Where did everything come from? For many, the answer is the Big Bang or evolution. These theories are presented as fact in schools, promoted in media, and accepted by much of society. But as believers, we must ask: do they actually make sense? And do they line up with God’s Word?
I believe in biblical creation only. Not the Big Bang, not theistic evolution, not a blend of Scripture and secular science. Genesis tells us, “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” That truth has never changed.
How Evolution Entered Our Schools
For much of American history, classrooms included prayer and Scripture. That changed in the early 1960s when court cases like Engel v. Vitale and Abington v. Schempp removed Bible reading and prayer from schools. Not long after, Darwin’s theory of evolution began making its way into classrooms.
My parents saw this shift firsthand. In the 1970s, schools were just starting to weave evolution into the curriculum. It wasn’t dominant yet, but it was clear where things were headed. My parents made the decision to pull my oldest brother from public school because of it. They knew that if you remove God’s Word and replace it with man’s theories, you erode the very foundation children need.
Fast forward to today, and evolution is taught not just as theory but as fact, while Scripture has been pushed out entirely.
Why the Big Bang and Evolution Don’t Add Up
When examined honestly, the Big Bang and evolution fall apart:
- Something from nothing: Matter and energy can’t create themselves.
- Order from chaos: Explosions don’t create order, they destroy.
- Life from non-life: Abiogenesis has never been observed.
- Mutations: Random mutations don’t create new systems—they usually cause harm.
- Fossil gaps: Transitional fossils are missing.
- Entropy: The second law of thermodynamics shows decay, not increasing complexity.
- Fine-tuning: The universe is precisely calibrated for life.
- DNA: Its complexity is far beyond chance.
Scientists Are Speaking Out
Contrary to what culture claims, many scientists are not convinced by Darwin’s ideas.
Dr. Douglas Axe, Director of Biologic Institute and Professor at Biola University, put it this way:
“Because no scientist can show how Darwin’s mechanism can produce the complexity of life, every scientist should be skeptical. The fact that most won’t admit to this exposes the unhealthy effect of peer pressure on scientific discourse.”
This is not a fringe opinion. Over 1,200 scientists have signed statements rejecting Darwinian evolution as a sufficient explanation for life’s complexity. The evidence simply doesn’t support it.
What the Bible Says
The Bible provides clarity where man’s theories bring confusion:
- Genesis 1:1: “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.”
- Hebrews 11:3: “By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command.”
- Psalm 19:1: “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.”
God is eternal, the uncaused cause, and the Creator of all things. Science affirms what Scripture has always declared.
Why It Matters
If we compromise on creation, we compromise the authority of Scripture. If Genesis isn’t true, why trust the rest of the Bible? We don’t need to twist God’s Word to fit human theories. His Word is enough.
For our children, this is especially critical. They’re being raised in a culture full of deception, and they need the unshakable foundation of God’s truth.
Conclusion
The Big Bang and evolution don’t stand up to scrutiny. But God’s Word stands forever. He created the universe with precision, purpose, and design—and He created you with intention, too.
